Arabian Horse Association, Region 14

Show info: Silverama | The Buckeye

About Region 14

Region 14 is not only centered in the United States being made up of Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia, but it is also considered the "center" of considerable horse activity, not only from its leadership in the Arabian horse community in America, but to the range of activities occurring in Region 14.

The rolling fields and hills of some portions of the region have provided beautiful and challenging sites for national competitive and endurance rides over the years. And, of course, when we speak of national events, we have the Sport Horse National Horse Show happening on a frequent basis at the Kentucky Horse Park. Speaking of the Kentucky Horse Park, it is the site of the Al Marah Arabian Horse Museum, an impressive new edifice that was completed in 2010 and is open to park visitors. Over one million people visit the horse park annually and have the opportunity to see the wonderful world of the Arabian horse. We're proud of this new distinction in our region.

Each May, the nationally-recognized Buckeye rolls around, giving us a preview of winners to come at the US Nationals. This show, put on by the Arabian Horse Association of Ohio, is one of the most prestigious Arabian horse shows in the country. We're proud of this outstanding show and delighted it happens in our region!

Speaking of regions and shows ... the Silverama comes around in June every year — this is the Region 14 Regional show, and what a show it is. Known as one of the "toughest" shows, in terms of competition, this show has garnered praise and compliments from exhibitors nationwide for the quality of the facility at the Kentucky Horse Park, to the professionalism of those working to see the show is one of the best in the country.

It is true, Region 14 folks know how to put on a horse show!

We all know though, that owning and enjoying our horses does not necessarily mean horse showing. We encourage recreational riding programs and encourage people to enjoy the horses in any way they can. We want our membership to be educated and feel a part of the Arabian Horse industry. We want to be responsive to your needs and interests.

Your region can be responsive when we hear what you would like from Region 14. Indeed, our region is progressive and a leading force in AHA. We want to remain in the forefront of what is happening and will be happening. We can do that through your participation and letting us know what is on your minds.

Delegates from regional clubs are elected annually and attend the national convention. They speak for you and others, so make sure you know your club delegates and let them know your thoughts and feelings. Regional meetings are held regularly and you are invited and encouraged to attend.

Work through your clubs, your officers, your regional officers — keep involved, keep informed and most of all, enjoy your beautiful Arabian and Half-Arabian horses!
